The herritage of Mexico
Tequila Ouroboros is the heritage of Mexico, carefully preserved by generations of tequila master distillers and designed to carry the traditional taste of the drink through the ages.
Ouroboros is one of the oldest mythological symbols reflecting the cyclical nature of life and the infinity of rebirth – a serpent eating its own tail.

The belief in the rebirth of matter and soul, life in a harmony with nature, sun worship as the beginning of life – this is how the Spanish conquistadors saw the Maya Indians. Arriving 500 years ago in the lands of the New World, the Spaniards were amazed by the greatness of the pyramids and the ability of locals to extract gold from ore.

However, it was the conquistadors who taught Indians to get tequila from agave juice. So, more than 500 years ago, started the countdown of a new history - the history of the origin of the drink, which became a symbol of rebirth, preserving the spirit of the place and nation of the country.

Following the cycle of Ouroboros, distillation in copper cubes purifying any matter became a metamorphosis that gave tequila special qualities. It was believed that it gave the endurance of the agave and the courage of the Indians.

Tequila Ouroboros is a reflection of the history of a traditional Mexican beverage. It is being produced as it was centuries ago according to a cycle: heating, evaporation, cooling and condensation. That’s where its extreme softness comes out and the special taste of blue agave is preserved.
History
From the best Tequileiras of Mexico
The place where Ouroboros was born
Tequila Ouroboros was launched in 2020, but we have over 3500 years of human history behind this ancient symbol and over 78 years of know-how in tequila production.

To produce Ouroboros we selected one of the best Tequileiras in Mexico – the former «Tequilas del Patròn», manufacturer of the world’s most famous Patrón brand which has been produced here for many years, until it was sold in 2018 for a massive $5,1 billion. In this regard, the Tequileira changed its name for the current «Tequilas del Señor».

This is one of the oldest factories of its kind in Guadalajara founded in 1943.

At the very beginning it was just a small brick oven, a tahona pit, a few woods fermentation vats, and small copper pot stills. Growing over the years Tequilerias has become a pioneer in modernization of production processes.

For many years Tequilas del Señor adheres to an unchangeable philosophy - to use traditional production methods to produce the best tequila in Mexico.

The hands and valor of our people: the power of transformation
Our history and the feelings of our people are reflected in the flavor of this drink that has become a guardian of our traditions.

Agaves for Tequila Ouroboros come from the heartland of tequila, known as Tequila Valley, in Jalisco, Mexico. The plants grow and matures for at least 7 years before agaves are harvested. They are particularly very sweet and mineral-rich and have a lot to do with the signature aromas and flavors inside of Tequila Ouroboros. Blue agave plants grow into large succulents with spiky fleshy leaves that can reach over 2 meters in height. Every plant in average gives juice for about 8 or 9 bottles of tequila.

Harvested agaves are slowly cooked for 36 hours. During this time starches inside the agaves turn into sugars, and deep caramelization happens in the best way when you slow down.

Using a modern technology all agave fibers are crushed and the sugars are separated from the fibers of the plant so that the fermentation can fully occur.

Fermentation is done in stainless steel open-air tanks. Tequila Ouroboros is distilled twice in stainless steel pots. The first time through the still creates «ordinario» - product, which is approximately 20% alcohol by volume. This ordinario is collected in a stainless-steel tank, and then it is sent through the still one more time. The second pass is when ordinario is turned into tequila. At this stage the tequila is about 46% alcohol.

Tequila Reposado is aged then in white oak barrels for at least 2 months. It gives the depth, complexity and its golden hue to the final product. As for Tequila Blanco, it does not get in touch with oak and stays in the steel vats to preserve its freshness and clear color.
